Simmental Premier March 2025
Irish Simmental Premier Sale at Roscommon – Described by many as a Sale to Remember
Judge: Eamon McCloskey
TOP PRICED BULL
Coose Rounder PP €16000.
The current buoyancy in the beef sector has clearly reflected onto the Pedigree market with one
of the best sales in years. Irish Suckler farmers were very active, and this coupled with a strong
export demand resulted in auctioneer Tox Cox recording a total clearance rate of over 90%.
The highest priced bull selling at €16000 was Coose Rounder PP exhibited by John & Ronan Tuohy,
Whitegate, Co. Galway. Sired by homebred bull Coose Kojack P, this October 23 born bull is out
of Coose Kitty P, a Steinadler dam. Having been placed first in his class, this homozygous polled
bull was purchased in partnership by Scottish Breeders, Gerald & Morag Smith for their Drumsleed
Herd in Kincardinshire, Scotland and Robert MacGregor for his Team Herd in Perthshire.
The second highest price of the day at €11000 was also recorded by the Touhy Team with the
junior bull Coose Shoutout ET PP. Placed as the Junior Bull Champion of the Show by judge
Eamon McCluskey who runs the Drumagarner Herd in Kilrea, Co. Derry. Again, sired by a
homebred bull Coose Jericho P, this 13-month-old bull is out of a Tiset Darwin dam, Crackley Iris
92 F P. This bull is also heading to Scotland having been purchased by Clive Houdley for his Manor
Park Herd in Lockerbie.
The Reserve Junior Champion Loughnavalley Romeo was exhibited by Peter Fagan, Dalystown,
Mullingar, Co. Westmeath. This December 23 born bull is sired by Rathnashan Norman ET and
out of a Dermotstown G Mac dam Leeherd Lilly. This bull was purchased by a Davis Reeves from
Cornwall, UK at €7800.
